Mr Tosan Okoro BSc, MBChB, PGCert.ClinEd, PhD FRCS(Orth) is a distinguished Consultant in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, holding his post since December 2019. An alumnus of the University of Warwick Medical School, Mr Okoro completed his core surgical training in the West Midlands Deanery. Pursuing academia alongside clinical work, he attained a PhD from Bangor University, focusing on exercise rehabilitation after total hip arthroplasty.

Mr Okoro's surgical expertise spans a broad spectrum, from general trauma care to complex hip and knee replacements. Notably, he is a graduate of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) National Future Leaders Programme, class of 2018, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and leadership in the field.

His international training includes a Lower Limb Reconstruction Fellowship at Sunnybrook Holland Orthopaedic and Arthritic Centre, Toronto, and multiple AOTrauma Fellowships in Sao Paolo, Berlin, and Davos. These diverse experiences have further enriched his surgical practice and have led him to visit esteemed centres like the Mayo Clinic’s arthroplasty unit.

In terms of research, Mr Okoro is prolific, boasting multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has received accolades such as Best Poster at the British Orthopaedic Research Society and Best Research Project at the European Foot and Ankle Society. His current research delves into patient-reported outcomes in trauma care, surgeon volumes in arthroplasty, and biomechanical facets of fracture fixation.

As an educator, Mr Okoro supervises Registrars in the Oswestry/Stoke orthopaedic rotation and teaches various educational courses, showing his dedication to nurturing the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.

In his personal time, Mr Okoro is an avid cyclist and enjoys travel and cinema. He is fluent in English.
