Surgeon:  Professor Paul Y F Lee - experience

Knee replacement is a good option to treat osteoarthritis (OA) for some patients, however it is not for everyone. There are over 1000 different types of knee replacement options on the market, their designs are extremely complex. There are theoretical benefits for each design and material used. Prof. Lee is trained in different types of systems and will be able to maximise their design features for individual patients.

Common knee systems used by Prof. Lee:

Triathlon Total Knee system - single radius design, gives reliable results

Attune Total Knee system - a new generation of knee system with minimal contact pressure, offers rotating platform design to help alingment and activity

Journery 2 - mimics the shape of the native knee, it has the latest technology to suit active and young individuals.

Prof. Lee has extensive experience in Knee Replacement surgery. His knowledge and clinical acumen are recognised and certified by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Tr & Orth) as well as the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology.

Prof. Lee has developed a specific pathway to further enchance recovery following knee replacement. By working with the anaesthetic and theatre team, the use of a tournaquet is no longer needed. This means that the muscle, nerves and vessels around thepatient’s thigh will not be crushed during surgery. This will enable muscle and nerves to stay perfused during surgery, which will enable early moblisation and recovery.  more
